Moira (Mo) Elmore

Watercolor and Acrylics

Originally from London, England, Mo Elmore has lived in Texas for the past 26 years.  She has been a Hill Country resident for 10 years and makes her home in Camp Verde.  Her current medium of expression is through watercolor and acrylics.  She loves color and paints with her intuition rather than a pre-conceived plan.  Mo previously painted in a more realistic style, which came to be restrictive and lacking challenge to artistic thinking.

Mo is an avid traveler and is inspired by trips to Europe and Mexico - "it's the color that turns me on."  Travel is one of her passions and she feels adventure and painting are one and the same.  There is the canvas of the world and the world of a canvas.

A poet as well, Mo moves between the written and painted word.  She is also a counselor; her artistic expression helps clients to "see new color in their lives."

Although a painter for 8 years, she has entered shows for the past 2 years and accepted at all juried shows entered.  She has participated in several shows at the Hill Country Arts Foundation and at the Kerrville Arts and Cultural Center, wining awards in juried shows.  Her work has sold to private collections and businesses.  Her work is shown at local galleries.  She has also participated in a 4-person show in the Hill Country.

Her teachers include Jack Ramsey and Harry Seagle who she says have given her a clearer direction and have helped here "break the rules" of painting.  She has participated in numerous art classes and studied with Jack Ramsey.  Her participation with the "Friday Painters" has given her encouragement to grow and explore as an artist.
