Is there a federal law that requires television news media to report criminal felonies to the public?
Q. I am a victim of a criminal and civil conspiracy that affects my community at large in the City of Los Angeles. The local news teams won't broadcast the story, which is perpetuating the conspiracy in society due to the silence. Is there a law that grants the people the right to know?

A. no. the media report stories that are newsworthy and can be substantiated - the dissemination of rumour is a speciality of the tabloids. if there were factual information supporting your allegations someone would be reporting it. that sort of story is just too juicy to pass up.

Should there be a law that regulated news media so that there was an equal balance of good news and bad news?
Q. The bias towards bad news is overwhelming - almost depressing. I say that for death we should see a happy pair of mating pandas. For every armed robbery I want to see some OAP marry an 18 year old leggy blond. For every crass and stupid law passed in Parliament, I want to see some school kids making an idiot out of their headmaster for charity. It's all about balance. Well, isn't it?

How can I ensure that the news media cannot use my face on TV?
Q. I work in a store, and recently someone threatened to bring the media in to pressure us. How can I ensure that my face won't be smeared over local TV? Bear in mind this is NYC. More specifically, what laws might protect me in this case?
