A bottle is a rigid container with a neck that is narrower than the body and a "mouth". By contrast, a jar has a relatively large mouth or opening. Bottles are often made of glass, clay, plastic, aluminum or other impervious materials, and typically used to store liquids such as water, milk, soft drinks, beer, wine, cooking oil, medicine, shampoo, ink and chemicals. A device applied in the bottling line to seal the mouth of a bottle is termed an external bottle cap, closure, or internal stopper. A bottle can also be sealed by a conductive "innerseal" by using induction sealing.

The bottle has developed over millennia of use, with some of the earliest examples appearing in China, Phoenicia, Rome and Crete. The Chinese used bottles to store liquids. Bottles are often recycled according to the SPI recycling code for the material. Some regions have a legally mandated deposit which is refunded after returning the bottle to the retailer.

How many bottles do you have for babies who gets formula?
Q. I am still breastfeeding my 8 month old but I am starting to introduce her to formula but we only have 5 bottles (dr. browns bottles) because she only gets a bottle a few times a week. How bottles do you have for your baby? How often do you sterilize them for an older baby or is it necessary?

A. When my baby was that age he had ALOT of bottles(10) that was because i did not want to keep washing bottles ALL DAY and i was always on the go(when bottles were dirty i would rinse them out and fill them with water and a little bit of detergent and put them in the fridge) and i sterilized them once or twice a week but the amount you have sounds fine but if you dont want to wash all day i would recommend 6-7 bottle and sterlize once or twice a week to make sure they are extra clean=]

A. The best thing to do is go to your local distributor and ask for "returnable bottles" Miller still makes them, as does Stegmaier and a few others. They will cost you $1.50 a case ($.05/bottle x 24). do not use plastic!

How can I buy blank bottles for my own drink?
Q. I am looking for a way to buy bottles with tamper evident caps (like you would have on your average bottle of soda) for my own drink. I don't want pre-bottled water, or labels, just blank bottles that have seal able caps so that whoever receives my drink opens the bottle new. I'd prefer a wide mouth bottle such as the bottles Gatorade comes in. Also, I do not want to buy too many, I just want ~40-50 of them. Any help please?
