A. You could look at the Krause Catalogue of World Coins. There are various editions; pre-1900, post-1900, post-2001, etc. But the listings are extremely comprehensive: ( ). Then, of course - you could have the coins professionally graded - this link should help : Or check out or post to one of the many coin collecting forums, i.e. Have fun!

Are the coins sold by World Reserve Monetary Exchange real?
Q. WRME has several large ads in big newspapers in the US metro areas for the uncirculated Presidential coins. The price is much lower than those offered by USMint. USMint says it is impossible for any dealer to offer lower prices than theirs. Who is correct? Thanks.

A. First, do not buy! This is a SCAM. I just received the frame and coins in the mail - all FOUR coins NOT forty. Yes, the coins are real, but here is the scam: In the AD that I read, which I mistakenly took for a legitimate article, they (WRME) stated that you get 40 coins and a free frame for around $38. Sounds like a great deal, right? But what I got, was 4 coins with a letter that I need to send in to receive the remaining 36 coins. The letter stated that I would be "first in line" to receive them. Well, guess what - they require me to pay an additional 9 payments of $18 to get the rest of the coins. That's $162 more dollars, meaning I would pay $200 for $40 worth of coins and a cheap frame. Unbelievable!! Let me say this… [cont.]

If Our World, Namely the United States, had a depression, would coins become more valuable than cash?
Q. Cash is made from paper, which in essence is worthless. Coins are made from heavy metals. So in the case of our money becoming worthless, such as a depression, would coins become more valuable than paper cash?

A. No. Pennies are not pure copper (do they have any copper anymore?), and other coins are layered. It is also illegal to destroy US currency as scrap, unless the Mint does it.
